Prior to entering private practice, he served the international immigration community with a non-profit organization called Access, located in Michigan and California. He is particularly experienced in asylum cases, deportation defense, and family based immigration. He has successfully represented thousands of clients in immigration court with USCIS, and at U.S. Embassies worldwide. Mr. Abusharar earned his Bachelors Degree in Law from Alexandria University, Egypt, and has two Masters' Degrees in Law from the University of Detroit (Michigan) and from Wayne State University (Michigan). His practice is based in Anaheim, California, but he is called on to represent clients throughout the United States and from many countries across the world. He has special expertise in cases involving Middle Eastern countries. He is frequently interviewed on KPCC radio and ABC TV. He was recognized as a Top 40 Attorneys in the State of California for 2018.
He has successfully represented clients from Asia, Europe, South America, Central America, and Mexico. Mr. Abusharar is fluent in Arabic and English. He is a member of the Michigan State Bar (since 2007); American Bar Association (since 2007), and American Immigration Lawyers Association. He is a recognized authority in his field, and his expertise is frequently sought by fellow attorneys. Ira Aspiz has been practicing as an attorney since 1981. After graduating from Loyola University Law School (Los Angeles), he practiced law in California and in Florida. He is a member of the State Bar of California. His practice is limited to Immigration Law. He has previously practiced Family Law, and has expertise in that field, as well. From 2001-2013, he was employed by the USCIS (Immigration) Asylum Office where he served as a Supervisory Asylum Officer (from 2004-2013), in which capacity he supervised, trained, and evaluated Asylum Officers.
He was frequently involved in the training of Immigration Officers nationally, and he served as an author of portions of the Asylum Officer Lesson Plans (the training manual for asylum officers). He has extensive experience in representing clients in Administrative Proceedings, Court Hearings, Appeals, Overseas Processing, and every visa imaginable. He is an active member of the Orange County Bar Association Immigration Section. He has worked with high profile clients from a large number of countries. Lewis received his Master’s in Law (LL.M) from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2012, he received his Juris Doctor degree from American College of Law in 2011. Michael S. Terry has been licensed by the State Bar of Nevada since 2010. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California Los Angeles in 1989. In 1990 he received a Master of Philosophy Degree from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. In 1994 he received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Ohio Northern University.
From 1995 to 2010 he was employed as a litigation paralegal for both plaintiff and defense law firms in Los Angeles County and Orange County, California. In those roles, he was heavily involved in the prosecution and defense of personal injury claims and insurance bad faith claims with a focus of their preparation for arbitration hearings and trials.
From 2010 to 2017, he was self-employed and practiced consumer protection law in Las Vegas, Nevada. In that role, he engaged in supervised mediations with commercial lenders to modify residential mortgages as well as foreclosure defense and bankruptcy law on behalf of individuals and small businesses.
He was employed at United States Citizenship and Immigration Services from 2017 to 2018 as an Asylum Officer where he adjudicated asylum cases and from 2018 to 2020 was employed as an Associate Immigration Attorney at the Matian Firm in Los Angeles, California where he engaged in appeals to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the reopening of closed cases to apply for adjustment of status. As an attorney at Abusharar & Associates, he is engaged in litigation against the federal government to compel it to provide immigration remedies that are overdue on behalf of individual applicants.
